Crits ^^
Well i was in the first batch of critiques Tues 2-6pm and the group I was with was very quiet because there was so much stuff to look at! Unfortunately I was not able to show the film that Ramona and I had worked on because I have now learned the hard way that a film set in HDV mode has a harder time burning onto a DVD, so trying to solve the problem of how to present it. The main feedback from my critique group was that despite the clutter of our collaboration they could still see and feel 3 individual energies and that our unity during process is not showing as strongly through presentation. Hopefully we can figure something out here. over and out.
It comes to an end
Well i have really enjoyed this project so far, working with Emily and Marcy has been fun. We have really got some good ideas going at the end, but I always find that with a project, time pressure gives me inspiration and also by 6 weeks you are only just getting started.
Im enjoying our space as well, by creating a room we are creating a physical space for our work to collaborate compared to being alone.
Well ive forgotten what i had to say for now so will write again
ciao

where we're at...
Today was hoping to do some filming on our "exercise video for Elam students", but unfortunately due to unforseen circumstances we are not able to make this work by film, but hopefully take photos and I have prepared two A2 pages of exercises we could do if we actually got off our asses and did some, which was the point in the beginning.
So will present this work as an idea.
Looking at presentation strategies I feel i am on the right track by trying things out and having a look to see if it works for me.
Its been very hard to get some decent digital photos printed out as my experience with photo shops has been non existent, im looking for the glossy outcome but not pixilated and too dark, Seems photo shops aren't what they used to be, when you couldn't sell a photo if it was crap.
Well heres hoping I get wat im after and learn how to spell

Very excited!
creating a chaotic collection, mess, (perhaps? maybe? or are we isolating everything...? slightly confused about that) like this one by Jason Rhoades,
getting my ass kicked at our art boot camp next week,
seeing the next beautiful creations from Marcy,
seeing the shots Ramona's going to experiment with the awesome elam camera,
seeing how my idea for performing arts will work, hint; making tea...muhahahaha

New Ideas
Today we had class and Marcy, Emily & I worked on our Karkhana pictures by working together and each person having 5 minutes to work on a piece then swapping to the next person and working round in a circle. It worked pretty well, but you have to be in the mood we decided to draw good work.
Marcy has a new idea to make as many different ideas as possible and put them into containers to pick out ideas as an art piece.
We are also going to do some performance worked based on the fact that not many art students get any excercise ( im speaking for myself here)
stay tuned

14th May 2008
Today im trying to get my little projects completed (as well as many other things in life) to a degree of completion so I can look at ways of presenting.
Most of my work has been started and Im trying to fit in getting photos printed at a photo shop and move plants into the studio for Emilys garden.
Yesterday Emily and I were editing her "walk" which I am really enjoying taking part in the editing process and I had filmed it.. Emily noted it was difficult for her to edit someone elses film work, and I am enjoying the aspect of being once removed from the work as it revolves around emily. It is a good distance to have when editing to get a better perspective.
over and out x

Family Guy - Peter Griffin narrating his life
I thought this might be a humourous way of tackling the mp3 recording of all conscience decisions

MP3 Yipee!
just made an awesome discovery today that I actually have an MP3 recorder that i didn't realise i had.
Its awesome to discover things like that which i never would have found out if I wasn't looking for it, thanks project!
So now maybe can do some sound work with recording voice, will be exciting.
So much going on at once, Im glad they are not major projects but tasks which once complete can move on to other things.
Today working on making an artwork to a piece of music without lyrics.
Using a track from an album called "Tranquility Bali" im sure that speaks for itself.
And also working on Marcy's walk, taking photos instead of filming it as we did with Emily's experience.
Wednesday I worked on "Doing things only once in the day" and found that I only do things once anyway, except for the normal everyday things like going to the toilet, once I do something its done and doesn't need to be done again.
It was such a beautiful day that I ended up at Bethells beach where I had a moonlike experience.
As per the photos above, well moving on, til next time.

NOt Hogging
Hi Em.... don't worry about it, the more you write, the more to read....
More from me...
I have cut out some images to collage that I want to work with, images of parachutes and water.
I am also interested in using things that have been worked on in the past but are unfinished as that is an element of the unfinished to this work.
When is an image finished? who says so?
Also i'm interested in using things from around the studio and are meaning full to me, or to Emily of Marcy, for the Karkhana.
Karkhana
HI Blog....
today have started the Karkhana project with Emily and MArcy.
This is working from a book called Karkhana - a contemporary collaboration edited by Hammad Nasar.
Basically its a collaboration of artwork between 6 artists, all doing miniture painting around a specific tradition, which the artists have learned at the school of fine arts in Lahore, Pakistan.
What I find interesting is the technique they use, through passing on works to another artist, they are giving up their ownership and allowing someone else to take over.
So far Emily and Marcy and I have swaped one work each to then explore and develop.
here are some of the interesting things I have noticed so far....
I think its easier to make the first image as it is very open and can be left half finished or finished.
Once I have someone elses work, I find it harder because i am afraid of ruining someone else's work.
it is also interesting to note that the decisions get harder once you are dealing with someone else's work as the decisions are harder as you need to make choices to go with the work already established.
over and out
4. am i hogging this blog?
um duno how to delete blogs was trying to post photos of works from today up on this but didnt work...IGNORE!

Blog 3: Virginia Frances Sterret
thought her illustrations were worth sharing
www.vfsterret.com/images
www.vfsterret.com/images
2nd blog entry and my first contribution to this blog.
Now that Ramona and I have filmed Marcy's idea for me, I'm beginning the editing process on finalcut pro which is an arduous deed but I enjoy it! I have decided for clearer understanding for the audience I would use subtitles to refer to which instruction I am carrying out in the filming footage. Also hoping I can some how fit the playlist I was listening to at the time but I can't seem to find the following songs at the moment:
- "Comfort Eagle" - Cake
- "Fried Bikini" - Al-Berto (is that right?)
- an Amy Winehouse song that was self titled on the listing
- "Honey You'll Be Alright" - Anika Moa
- "Dry and Heat" - Burning Spear (I think?)
- "The Natural" - Che Fu
- "Frustration" - from the Moniker album
- "Jesus I Was Evil" - Clay Davey
- "I'll Breathe For You" - D Super
- "Universal" - Dejusa
HELP!
Unfortunately I wasn't able to get more footage on the way back because it started to rain and I would have been more radical if was the camera was mine and not Elam's. Sigh.
I'm looking forward to what Marcy and Ramona have come up with concerning the ideas I have given and the ideas Ramona's going to exchange with us!

First entry to blog & what I did last friday
Well this is a new blog site for the collaboration project between Emily, Marcy and myself ( ramona) a place to record events, things we did, ideas and conversations, photos, anything.
Last friday Emily and I walked the streets of the CBD, Emily following instructions from Marcy's notebook, to wander through the streets of Auckland while listening to an ipod, she needed to complete tasks and record what she found.
I followed her behind her like a bad smell, or an obsessed stalker with a video camera and recorded her every move while trying not to be distracted by the sights and sounds that surrounded me.
Im looking forward to seeing how Emily edits the footage and also helping her by adding some input on how I perceived what I filmed.
